From Imagination to Execution
This might sting some folks and probably that’s a good thing. Hear me out.
You no longer need a designer to create your UI and there is no such thing as custom design anymore. Design was centralized into blocks several years ago. It started with structuring CSS into open libraries so that front end developers can bring that to the web in a standardized and accessible way. The reasoning behind this was that in the web and product design field we had an influx of designers who did not understand the medium or CSS/HTML than their prior colleagues.
But… the same applies to front end development. You no longer need a developer to make things happen for you but a simple English (or your native language) prompt. Doing so will give you the design you are after direct to the web and production ready.
Furthermore, we have the resources at our fingertips to bring something to life, drawing from thousands of repositories and tools that enable anyone to design, build and execute.
So why is this a good thing?
Because the bottleneck between having an idea and bringing it to life is disappearing. You no longer need to convince someone else to understand your vision, translate it into a design and then translate that design into code.
You can go straight from imagination to execution. And when the cost of building falls, more ideas get a chance to exist.
The question is no longer who can design or develop. It's who has something worth building.
